Amethyst Trust Offers Beauticians Specialist Training on how to give Treatments to Cancer Patients

Amethyst Trust brings training to beauty techs of all kinds, covering specialist treatments for people with cancer and those who are in recovery.

Amethyst Trust launched in 2010 by Julie Speed and Debbie Moore, who previously ran a beauty salon together for over 30 years and a beauty therapy and hairdressing training academy for eight years.

The duo aims to dispel myths and common misunderstandings about treating people whose immune system may be impacted or skin may be particularly sensitive because of their diagnosis. Thinking about things like chemicals, the trust provides high-quality information to those who wish to offer better services to their clients.

The intention is to bring both knowledge and skill, and ensure therapists feel confident and competent.

The training provided to therapists involves online and face-to-face modules, including cancer theory and understanding, client care procedures, case studies and learning specialist adaptations to treatments.

With 21 resorts across the UK, The QHotels Collection is proud to roll out their training with the Amethyst Trust for the first time for therapists nationwide, offering safe and inclusive treatments to those touched by cancer.

With the support of Amethyst Trust, they aim to fully embrace the therapeutic benefits of massage therapy and treat those guests safely and effectively.

Debbie Moore, Co-Founder of Amethyst Trust said: “We are delighted to be working with The Q Hotels Collection and training their fantastic therapist team in Specialist Cancer Massage.

“Massage can be a huge benefit to people living with cancer or recovering from cancer and can help aid relaxation and sleep and may even help to reduce pain.

“Without specialist training, therapists may have previously had to turn away guests living with cancer, this causes huge embarrassment to the therapist or receptionist and deep upset and disappointment to the client.

“Amethyst Trust and The QHotels Collection are passionate that all guests are welcomed and that therapists have the knowledge and understanding to competently and confidently be able to adapt massage and facial treatments to be appropriate for these guests and welcome them.”
