With the festive season just around the corner, here at ROAR we could not be any more excited. Below, I share some of my top tips for spreading festive cheer throughout the salon and ensuring you provide an unforgettable experience over the festive season for your clients.
Decorate the Salon
At ROAR, we are known for going over the top with our decorations. Not just at Christmas, but for other occasions like Halloween too – it’s just what we do. Christmas in particular is the perfect time of year to decorate the salon, as it gives guests something to look forward to at their first festive visit – Seeing the salon all decorated helps to get them in the festive spirit!
I also believe it shows guests that you care about their experience and want to go above and beyond to ensure they have a great overall experience, whilst of course delivering first-class hairdressing services. Plus, it’s a way to just have some fun and lighten people’s moods (not just salon guests but also the team too) – who wouldn’t want to do that?!
Boosting Team Morale
The end of the year is always an incredibly busy time for hairdressers, and it can take a toll on your team. You need to bear this in mind and do your best to boost morale where possible. At ROAR, we close the salon for the first week of January to allow the team to rest and reset after the busy December period. This acts as a great motivator for the team, as they know they are working super hard in the lead up to Christmas, but after the festivities, they will all have their own downtime, which is so important to relax and reset before coming back to the salon in the New Year.
Holiday Themed Promotions
The festive season is a great time to capitalise on everything, especially treatments, retail products, and gift sets. This is undoubtedly the busiest time of year for salons around the world and it is a key time to make as much profit as you can. Cuts, colours, and styling are always extremely popular in the salon however to capitalise more, think about creating packages for clients, which will increase their spend and in turn positively impact your profit. Adding on a treatment at a discounted price such as glossing or conditioning can instantly impact the clients spend. Shout out about the amazing deals and let your clients enjoy them.
Likewise, retail offerings should be focused on in order to promote sales and fantastic offers. Show off the offers, share the discount and don’t be afraid to mention these to your clients – it may be that they are looking for a last-minute gift or stocking filler or to simply keep their own hair looking and feeling incredible during the winter months when hair needs more moisture.
Reward Your Team
To further enhance your team’s morale during the festive season, it’s important to recognise and reward their hard work. At ROAR, we always have a ‘PRIDE GATHERING’ before Christmas, our own awards night to give back to our amazing team. We give out awards for categories including Stylist of the Year. Our stylists across all three salons have won a number of incredible prizes including A 55” 4K Smart TV, luxury spa weekends, extra holidays for next year, new Varis Pro AirQ hairdryers and loads more. We take PRIDE in our team because they are our PRIDE and we want to look after the people who look after our guests and show them we appreciate them.
