The 2026 Nail Trends Set To Take Over The Salon

While many of us are still enjoying festive nails, others are already ready to move on from the sparkles, deep reds, and Christmas nail art. As January approaches, the focus shifts to fresh, clean, and understated manicures — but which nail trends are set to lead the way?

To find out, Fresha beauty experts analysed Pinterest search data, revealing the nail styles people are already searching for ahead of their January appointments. The results point to a clear move towards muted, natural, and minimalist nail looks.

Annabelle Taurua, Beauty Expert at Fresha, commented: “Clean, fresh-looking nails are set to dominate January 2026, as people move away from bold, bright colours in favour of natural, understated styles to start the new year. As the year progresses, however, we anticipate a return to classic, vibrant shades — think olive greens, fluorescent yellows, and bright oranges — alongside bold nail art and statement accessories, as people experiment and have fun with their nail style.”

Trend Breakdown

Polka Dot Nails Take the Top Spot

Polka dot nails are the most in-demand nail style for January 2026, boasting a huge 1,273% increase in demand. As people move away from glitter-heavy designs, this trend strikes the perfect balance between playful creativity and understated elegance. The versatility of polka dots — from monochrome to colourful accents — makes them ideal for both everyday wear and special occasions.

Bubble Bath Nails: Subtle and Chic

In second place are bubble bath nails, which have seen a 402% surge in demand. Inspired by OPI’s iconic Bubble Bathpolish, this sheer, milky pink manicure has become a go-to for anyone seeking a clean, polished, and effortlessly elegant look.

Soap Nails Embrace Minimalism

Rounding out the top three are soap nails, with a 244% increase in demand. This ultra-clean, natural style is perfect for those embracing a minimalist aesthetic while keeping nails looking glossy, healthy, and refined.

Glazed Nails Remain a Favourite

In fourth place, glazed nails continue to shine, growing 45% in demand. Popularised by Hailey Bieber, this high-gloss finish works beautifully layered over any shade, but is particularly striking when paired with soft pink or nude tones.

Milky Nails Get a Pantone Boost

Completing the top five are milky nails, which have seen a 21% increase in demand. The trend has likely been influenced by Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Cloud Dancer, offering a subtle and wearable way to incorporate the soft hue into everyday manicures.
