The beauty industry non-profit has changed over 800 lives and raised $7.5M for impactful programs and scholarships since its founding.
It was an evening like no other in the professional beauty industry, filled with high-octane energy, disruptive artistry, emotional reunions, and cheers of celebration. The Beauty Changes Lives Experience took over Joe’s Live on Sunday, April 10 following America’s Beauty Show to celebrate the non-profit’s milestone 10-year anniversary and the 800+ lives it has impacted. Together, nearly 1,000 beauty industry icons, next-gen talent and friends of beauty raised $100,000.00 throughout the evening that will go towards empowering and equipping the next generation of beauty professionals with valuable resources like education scholarships, mentorship opportunities, and business grants.
“Ten years ago, we knew that we had the responsibility to shape the future and help this industry be successful,” said Lynelle Lynch, Beauty Changes Lives founder and president of Bellus Academy. “Over those ten years, Beauty Changes Lives has impacted over 800 lives, helped recruit and retain talent, raised $7.5 million for much-needed resources, and celebrated the diversity that this industry embraces. The Beauty Changes Lives Experience is the industry’s opportunity to commemorate those the organization has touched and pay it forward for upcoming beauty professionals. We look forward to celebrating even more lives changed and opportunities created throughout the next 10 years.”
Past and present Beauty Changes Lives scholarship winners shared the stage throughout the evening with the legendary Sam Villa, the event’s host, inspiring guests with emotional and empowering stories of how beauty changed their lives. Beauty industry icons Ted Gibson and Jason Backe presented the winners of the WorthUp Alliance Dream Capital Grants, giving away $20,000 in total to entrepreneurs who can change the future of beauty. The evening concluded with runway presentations from beauty’s most innovative brands, led by industry expert mentors and their next-gen mentees. Each brand showcased true creativity, embracing the “METAMORPH” theme through awe-inspiring moments, bold
statements, and provocative artistry using hair, fashion, makeup, and production. Runway presentations were crafted by artists from: Floyd’s 99 Barbershop, IGK Hair, L3VEL3 Professional, CLICS Colors, Ulta Beauty and Wella.
