If you’re anything like me, you’ll absolutely hate the winter. Yes, I love Christmas…and yes, I love the nights outs, but I cannot deal with the cold – and neither can our hair! Dry, brittle hair is the main culprit thanks to the drop in temperature, whilst the air becomes drier – leaving the hair seriously lacking moisture, meaning the hair is often left looking dull, dry, and lifeless. To combat your client’s winter hair woes, here’s how I ensure that my clients hair stays on the nice list…
- Make Time for Masking
With drastic changes in temperature from the warm inside to the cold outside hair really needs more moisture in the winter months so I would really take time to use a deep conditioning mask at least once a week. Kerasilk Recovery mask has Biomimetic Silk & Hyaloveil to keep hair Moisturised, repaired, and stunning!
- Pay Attention to your Scalp!
It goes without saying a healthy scalp leads to healthy hair and with our scalp aging 6 times faster than the skin on our face it really does need a regimen of its own. A good way to get on track with this is to apply Goldwell’s Dual Senses Scalp Rebalance & Hydrate Fluid daily to the scalp which will protect against dryness and help hydrate and condition the scalp. A good scalp massager is amazing too (and it makes the perfect stocking filler!)
- Avoid Over Washing
This is the season for hats, scarves and the best kind of accessories so wash your hair less often. If you struggle with this KMS have Cleansing Mist which is a wonder product! Spray into dirty hair and either air dry or blast dry with your hairdryer on a low heat and watch any oil be absorbed by the unique formula.
- Try a Glossing Treatment
Whether you’ve never coloured your hair or you are on a consistent colour journey taking time to have a clear gloss service with really give you that feeling of the “season is here to shine” all clear glosses should be ammonia free and acidic to really help smooth the hairs cuticle, maximising shine and improving condition.
- I’ll say it once and I’ll keep saying it… Regular Trims!
Clients fear losing length, but in the long run, getting a regular trim will benefit the hair. Once split ends start to appear, the damage will continue to work its way up the stand, so getting a trim is essential to prevent further damage, especially in the colder months. So, listen to your hairdresser when they tell you to get a cut – you probably need it!
