Kao appoints Christian Melcher Chief Marketing Officer for its Global Salon Division

 Japanese Consumer Goods Manufacturer Kao today announced the appointment of industry expert Christian Melcher as their new Global Chief Marketing Officer for their Salon business. In this newly created role, Christian Melcher will oversee the Brand Development, Marketing, Digital and Communications activities for the professional salon brands including Goldwell, KMS and Kerasilk, thus supporting the company’s growth strategy to become the global leader in salon hair color as well as luxury hair care. He will also play a key role in accelerating Kao’s digital and E-Commerce strategies. 

Christian Melcher joins the company with over 20 years of international experience in Marketing, Sales and General Management in the Beauty and Salon industry. In his most recent role as Corporate Vice President D2C he spearheaded the D2C activities of Henkel’s Beauty Care business globally. Over the course of his career, he has developed a track record of driving growth through innovation and commercial excellence and building successful brands and strong teams. Christian Melcher will be a member of the Global Salon Leadership Team at Kao and report into Dominic Pratt, Global President Kao Salon Division.
