OUT NOW: UK & Ireland Issue 3

Back and Blooming!

Welcome to the third edition of SalonEVO UK and Ireland! We are incredibly grateful for all the positive feedback we have received for our first two issues and are incredibly excited to share our third issue with you.

Additionally, we offer a warm welcome back to the many hair and beauty professionals throughout the UK who are back in the salon for the first time since winter! We know the first few weeks back have been manic, so let this be your call to grab a copy of SalonEVO, put your feet up, and be inspired by all the content we have packed into this issue!

Anne Veck

The sublime cover image from Anne Veck’s Lawless collection, was created in a bid to celebrate the beauty and strength of black hair and to show the limitless options that can be created. We love it!

Bridal

‘Tis the season to say, ‘I do.’ We at SalonEVO spoke to industry experts to find out the ‘do’s and don’ts’ for all things bridal beauty.

Great Lengths Ambassador Kirby Blythe opens up the feature by sharing her tips on how to give brides that little extra glam for their big day. With wedding season just around the corner and most of us feeling like we are coming out of a year-long hibernation, Kirby predicts that trends this year will be balancing a toned-down, natural style, while giving brides the glamour and sparkle they’ve always dreamed of.

We also chat to Kasia Fortuna and Kristina Gasperas, bridal hair and beauty experts who this year turned to the web to offer courses to professionals around the world. With most stylists having ample time on their hands this year, Kasia and Kristina found themselves with an ever growing following, as they offer helpful skills and advice about hair, beauty, and business.

Legendary hairstylist Danielle Keasling offers her advice on how you can elevate your game into the luxury wedding market, and how to tackle updo’s with no sweat—take out the heat!

Hair Extensions

How many times has a client come to your chair with a Pinterest inspo photo of a model who has five times the amount of hair? For most of us, despite how much we want it, having long and thick luscious hair will never be on the cards. So why not offer a solution to your clients to boost their self-esteem, while boosting revenue for your salon.

In this issue we chat to extension experts such as Charlotte Griffiths of the Beauty Works VIP Salon Xtended Locks, Remi Cachet Superstylist, Alex Ferris, and avant-garde extension artist Emma Holt, to learn about the pros, cons, tips and tricks in the world of extensions.

We were also lucky enough to chat with the girl-bosses behind some of the leading extension brands. Penelope Cheshire, founder of Beauty Works shared with us her journey of starting the company and building it to the world-wide reputable brand Beauty Works is today. As well, Imogen Fox, Founder of Foxy Locks tells of her incredible journey with her luxury clip-in extension brand.

Sustainable

We all know that there is no planet B. But did you know that adding more sustainable solutions and features to your salon will not only help lower your environmental footprint, but help increase your footfall? For many salons, green solutions have become their USP which has driven in more eco-conscious customers and in turn, brought in more revenue.

We speak to stylists such as Ky Wilson, Janet Milner Walker and Anne Veck, who share their tips on how to create a more sustainable salon environment, from taking advantage of the Green Salon Collectives recycling programme, reducing salon waste, using more natural products, and integrating a refill bar into the salon.

Salon Essentials

Finally, for those of you who are either opening a new salon, or even just reopening your salon-post lockdown, we want to help you make sure you have all the right essentials, from salon wear, to furniture, brushes, and even the right insurance plan.

We spoke to Carmen Carter, CEO of Salon Collection UK who has devoted her time to make sure that salons are able to access essentials that are not only comfortable and high quality, but also glamourous too – it is your home away from home after all!

Tanning

Everyone wants that summer glow, but this year without being able to jet off to the Mediterranean, sunless tanning will have to do! So why not add tanning services to your salon, as an easy way to add an arm of revenue. We spoke to experts like Abbie McCann and James Harknett who share their tips on how to provide your clients a personalised tanning service, for a variety of skin-types and personalities.
