Salon group Saks is delighted to announce that stylists Amy Pengilley, Charlotte Lewington and Sean Kelly have partnered up to become co-owners of the Yarm salon, with laser-focused support and mentoring from their previous boss, Jane Myers-Lewis and the Saks HQ team.
EMPOWERING SALON STAFF
The appointment reflects a succession pathway developed by Saks in recent years. By identifying and mentoring stylists and therapists to step into ownership, and openly inviting team members to express interest, the group explores each pathway individually – recognising that every salon and situation is different – while ensuring continuity, stability and brand consistency across its network.
After years of thriving as stylists, the Yarm trio have teamed up to carry the salon-owning torch from Jane Myers-Lewis. Jane’s vision, vibe and love of customers and Saks hairdressing made the salon what it is today. And the new owners are here for more of that.

Timing’s perfect. Signed, sealed, and salon-owning as they celebrated 30 years of the salon, having won Hair Salon of the Year and Customer Service Award at the Saks Awards 2025.
Amy says: “Being part of Saks is major for us. The community of owners, and the support Jane’s always had from HQ was reassuring when we knew we wanted to become owners.”
Charlotte:” Saks HQ supported us LOADS! We had multiple meetings to discuss every part of the process and every aspect of the business. And we can ask for advice anytime.”
Sean: “The biggest learning curve has been realising all the work that goes on behind the scenes to run the salon. Jane made it look super easy. I feel fortunate that there are three of us to share that workload, so we can also focus on creating great hair.”
Amy: “It’s a scary leap into the world of business, but there has been so much love and support! I met our other salon owners at the Saks Awards and everyone said, if you ever need advice, just pick up the phone. Just go for it.”

The new owners are not planning any big changes and will expand on what they already offer in hairdressing and keep customers at the heart of everything they do, with the involvement of their team. Jane’s now working in the salon, so the Saks family vibe remains real.
Jane concludes: “It could have been so hard to let it go, but handing the reins to the next generation has filled me with pride. Salon life has always been my passion. I’m loving working in the salon – not retiring for a long time yet. Long live Saks Yarm!”

OWNERSHIP PATHWAYS AT SAKS
Saks offers three routes to salon ownership: internal succession for stylists and therapists, as well as options for salon conversions for independent owners, and brand-new openings in new locations. For more information on ownership options, visit saks.co.uk.
