Industry Mourns the Loss of Beloved Celebrity Colorist Kim Vo, Aged 55

Celebrity hairstylist, Kim Vo, has died aged 55, his husband Adeel Khan, shared on Saturday, January 24th.

Sharing the sad news on Instagram, he wrote: “My beloved husband, best friend, partner in life & business, Kim Vō, has taken his final breath.

“Diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2018, he fought valiantly, winning many battles along the way and exceeding all medical expectations under the care of Dr. Lawrence Piro and his incredible team at Angeles Clinic and Cedars-Sinai. Ultimately, God decided it was time for our angel on earth to return home.

“Kim kindly requested in lieu of flowers & other tokens of condolences after his passing, to please channel your love & efforts towards donations for Kim Vō Foundation in support of hair, beauty, and fashion creatives also affected by cancer. “

Kim was best known as a blonding specialist and was a stylist to the stars, with a client list including the likes of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Gweneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, and more. He was also known for being a judge on Bravo’s reality competition series Shear Genius, as well as for starring in Paramount+’s Blowing LA.

Tributes flooded in for the star across the industry, as Nick Stenson penned: “I’m so very sad to hear this. What an inspiration to all. Sending you and the family lots of love and light. Life is so fragile. This is a good reminder to hug the ones you love and always let them know how much you love them. Sending so much love. ❤️💔”

Matty Conrad said: “Kim and I worked together for Schwarzkopf professional for several years… so many shows across North America… he was incredible. There are so many moments I can think of where he was so unbelievably kind and supportive and went out of his way to make me feel cheered for… He was a real gem of a human. Rest easy My friend.”

“Heart broken to hear this news,” Alfredo Lewis wrote. “My first day as an assistant at Cristophe Salon in Beverly Hills was Kim’s first day as a hair colorist there in the 90’s. I remember his drive and work ethic then and he quickly became booked solid and it was so inspiring to see. He was always so kind and welcoming and I’ve loved watching his success through the years. I was at his salon a few years ago and over the years I wound run into him. Every time. So full of kindness and love. So sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences and respects.”

In an extended statement on the Kim Vo Salon’s official website, Adeel penned: “One of Kim’s last wishes was to continue helping others. Even after cancer entered our lives, he chose to focus on gratitude and purpose, “I’ve been incredibly lucky. I’ve experienced love, happiness, and meaningful relationships on and off screen.

I don’t need anything more, but I do want to use the platform, knowledge, and success I’ve worked so hard for to help others.

Everything I’ve been blessed with also belongs to the communities that have made me who I am. I want my life to be celebrated with joy, positivity, and now, health-first vigilance,” he said. “That is the meaning of life. That is the meaning of my life.””
