Naomi Brooks Launches Texture in Session Masterclass

Award-winning textured hair specialist and educator, Naomi Brooks is opening the conversation around inclusive hairdressing with her latest masterclass, Texture in Session, taking place on Monday, June 8 in Manchester.

Texture in Session aims to bring together education, cultural awareness, technical insight, and real industry dialogue to help salons confidently expand their expertise in textured and afro hair services.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the professional hair industry, Naomi has become recognized nationally for her work championing textured hair education and raising standards across the sector. As founder of The Hair Sanctuary in Manchester, Naomi has built a reputation for delivering specialist education that challenges outdated industry norms while empowering stylists to diversify their skillsets and better serve modern, multicultural clientele.

Offering an open and collaborative environment, Texture in Session offers stylists an opportunity to gain practical knowledge, ask honest questions and develop greater confidence in working with textured hair.

What you’ll learn

  • Texture-first approach: Understand hair at its structural and conceptual levels (porosity, density, natural patterning) and how texture informs style choices for camera and movement.
  • Curly and coily techniques: Cutting-edge detangling, definition, and shrinkage management methods; pattern-preserving styling for both natural and enhanced curls; product selection and layering for long-lasting hold without stiffness.
  • Straight and blown techniques: Precision blowouts and smoothing methods that maintain body and movement; creating sleek, camera-ready finishes that withstand lights, humidity, and long hours on set.
  • Ponytail perfection: Sculptural and wearable ponytails that read on camera—anchoring, balance, texture blending, and rapid transformation strategies for quick changes between looks.
  • Hair health and integrity on set: Protective styling practices, heat and chemical considerations, and techniques to minimize damage during repeated styling.

Discussing Texture in Session, Naomi Brooks said: “Hairdressers are increasingly recognizing the importance of inclusive education, but many still feel they haven’t had access to the right training or conversations throughout their careers. Texture in Session is about creating a safe, inspiring space where hair professionals can learn, grow and feel empowered to deliver better experiences for every client who walks through their salon doors.”

Naomi’s work has already gained recognition across the professional hair industry through educational initiatives, stage presentations and award nominations, including recognition at the British Hairdressing Awards. Her work has also focused on tackling hair discrimination and increasing accessibility to textured hair education throughout the UK hairdressing sector.
