The MET Gala 2024, held on the first Monday in May each year, was a dazzling affair – with celebrities from across the globe coming together to show off their best looks.

Leading the hair trends for this year was Ashley Graham, with a show-stopping pixie fringe and stunning updo by celebrity hairstylist, Justine Marian. Whilst the MET Gala ended in the wee hours of Tuesday the 7th of May – today, people are still questioning, just how did she do it?

SalonEVO has the exclusive info…

The Coveted Tape extensions by Covet & Mane® made it possible! The Coveted Tape tape-in extensions from Covet & Mane offer a world of possibilities for experimentation with bangs and other unique styles. These damage-free extensions can be applied in under 30 minutes and removed in less than 10 minutes. Additionally, their unique design looks seamless with your roots, which allows the faux-bangs to come to life!

Justine, who is the stylist to stars such as Gwen Stefani, Olivia Culpo, Kristen Cavallari and Khloe Kardashian, has revealed exactly how she did it.

Justine said: “We were inspired by the ‘Garden of Time’ story from the 1960s and wanted to create a hair look that felt like a dark fairy tale. Ultimately, we decided to give Ashley a pixie bang and twisted updo.

“I was able to create customized ‘faux’-bangs for Ashley using The Coveted Tape, which is a new tape-in extension innovation from Covet & Mane®. First, I parted the hair down the centre and worked through the updo, keeping a section of hair about an inch in width down around her face.

“Because you can cut The Coveted Tape to any width you’d like (they come as a weft large enough to span temple to temple), I customized The Coveted Tape weft size to a width that suited Ashley’s face. I applied it to her natural hair, and I used some of her natural hair to conceal.

“A lot of times faux bangs can be so thick that they don’t look real. I love the density on The Coveted because it blends so seamlessly with natural hair.

“For my cutting, it slowly got shorter and shorter, but we ended up loving the results! It was a process. Ultimately, we decided to go for a really short baby bang that was really piece-y.”
