Award-winning stylist and long-established local business owner Teresa Weller has officially launched her stunning new salon, Teresa Weller Hair Art, in the heart of Dorking. The glamorous opening event took place on Wednesday 19 November, welcoming clients, local businesses, media and supporters into the newly transformed Rotunda building on South Street.
Four Gables Events delivered elegant catering, while The Bull’s Head supported seamlessly with logistics and refreshments throughout the evening. Tipsy Gin Company kept spirits high with bespoke gin cocktails, and Revlon Professional treated guests to luxury goodie bags. Entertainment was provided by singer David Jelly, who performed much-loved classics, and the entire event was beautifully documented by Liam Oakes, capturing stunning imagery and a video montage to mark the occasion.
Radio personality Nicky Patrick from Radio Jackie joined Teresa for the ceremonial ribbon cutting, with Radio Jackie offering generous coverage of the launch. Teresa was also featured on BBC Radio Surrey, where she shared insight into her journey and the significance of opening in such a historic local landmark.
>> A new chapter for an iconic Dorking building
The launch marks the completion of Teresa’s extraordinary year-long renovation of The Rotunda, a distinctive 1928 circular building and much-loved part of the Dorking streetscape. Having been empty for more than three years, Teresa completely reimagined the space alongside her husband Gary. With the help of local tradespeople, together they replaced and rebuilt large areas of the roof, raised the ceiling by four feet and installed a bespoke, state-of-the-art airflow and filtration system to resolve long-standing ventilation issues.
The result is an 823 sq ft, luxury, open-plan salon blending Art Deco influence with modern elegance. With eight styling stations, a prominent colour bar, throughtful lighting and REM furniture throughout, the salon has been designed to elevate both client experience and team workflow.
>> Teresa’s vision brought to life
Teresa, who began her career in Mayfair at just 16 and has since worked across London, Milan and New York Fashion Weeks, says the move to The Rotunda represents the most meaningful milestone of her 30-year career.
Commenting on her remarkable new salon, Teresa says:
“I still can’t quite believe this beautiful building is our new home. The Rotunda has been part of Dorking’s landscape for almost a century, and to have the opportunity to restore it and bring it back to life feels incredibly special. The build was beyond challenging at times, but my amazing team were right beside me – helping move the old salon, lifting, carrying, organising and doing whatever was needed without ever being asked. They stepped up in ways I will never forget. And Gary, my husband, was my rock throughout all of it – from late nights on site to overseeing so much of the renovation. I’m truly overwhelmed with gratitude.”
“What means the most to me is becoming an even deeper part of the Dorking community. Our clients have supported us for so many years, and this salon is for them – a luxurious, warm, welcoming space where they can relax, feel incredible and enjoy the highest standard of hair artistry.”
Designed for comfort, efficiency and beauty, the space sets a new benchmark for high-end hairdressing in Surrey.
