As an artist committed to celebrating the full spectrum of hair texture, I designed each of these looks for my stop at America’s Beauty Show on the Texture Unleashed Tour.
From quick-change glam to sculptural editorial styles, every look was crafted with versatility, speed, and impact in mind—perfect for red carpets, bridal clients, fashion shows, or backstage environments. Using The Doux product line from Sally Beauty and tools from my Artist on the Go Bag, I created styles that not only showcase the beauty of textured hair but also reflect the precision and adaptability today’s top stylists need.
Look 1 – ✂️ Sculpted Texture Crown
1. Prep + Blowout
Apply O.P.P. Heat Protectant Spray, DOUX DROPS Bonding Polish, and Mousse Def to damp hair. Blow-dry for a smooth, stretched base.
2. Cornrow + Sew
Create 5 sections. Cornrow the top crown section forward, then sew into a figure 8 across the forehead.
Cornrow side sections around the ears toward the face and sew on accessories.
3. Sleek + Ponytail Build
Use THE DOUX BIG POPPA Defining Gel with the BABYGIRL Edge Brush™ to smooth edges and create sleek ponytails.
Join the side sections into a single ponytail, then create two additional ponytails as your base.
4. Extensions + Bantu Knots
Add synthetic hair (Dosso Beauty) to all 3 ponytails. Twist into bantu knots and pin securely.

Look 2 – ✂️ Textured Crown with Cascading Glam
1. Prep + Blowout
Apply O.P.P. Heat Protectant Spray, DOUX DROPS Bonding Polish, and Mousse Def to damp hair. Blow-dry thoroughly for a smooth, stretched base.
2. Cornrow + Sew
Create 5 sections.
Cornrow the top crown forward and sew into a sculpted figure 8 across the forehead.
Cornrow the side sections (around the ears) toward the front and sew on accessories.
3. Sleek + Base Build
Use BIG POPPA Defining Gel with the BABYGIRL Edge Brush™ to smooth edges.
Pull the side sections into one sleek ponytail and secure.
Create 2 cornrows in the back and pin them down horizontally as an anchor.
4. Add Extensions + Style
- Clip hair extensions on top of the pinned-down cornrows.
- Add extensions to the top ponytail and blend.
- Curl using a 1-inch Cordless Ceramic Iron from the Artist on the Go Bag.

Look 3 – ✂️ Quick-Change Glam: Updo to Downstyle
1. Cleanse + Section
Hair was shampooed and conditioned, then prepped with:
• Leave-In Conditioner Dear Mama Moisture Milk Leave-In Conditioner
• Mousse Def Texture Foam for hold and control
• THE DOUX 808 BASE GEL at the hairline for structure
Create 5 clean sections to prep for styling and wig application.
2. Wig Install + Curling
Apply two wigs and curl them in 1-inch sections using the Cordless Ceramic Curling Iron from the Artist on the Go Bag.
Blend the crown section of the natural hair into the wigs by curling it as well for a seamless finish.
3. Polish + Style
To prep the curls:
• Apply JUST GLAZE Silkening Fluid for smoothness and shine
• Layer with O.P.P. Heat Protectant Spray for heat safety up to 450°F
• Finish with DOUX DROPS Bonding Polish, then finger-comb through to blend and separate the curls

Look 4 – ✂️ Avant-Garde Switch-Up: Sleek Base to Sculpted Brilliance
1. Cleanse + Prep
Start with PRESS REWIND Curl Retention Shampoo and FAST FORWARD Heat Prep Conditioner to gently cleanse and protect.
Apply Dear Mama Moisture Milk Leave-In Conditioner for moisture and manageability.
Blow-dry using a paddle brush or comb attachment for a smooth, stretched base.
2. Create the Braid Base
Cornrow small sections toward the center of the head. Use THE DOUX BIG POPPA DEFINING GEL for clean parts, grip, and hold while braiding.
Gather the braid ends and pin them down flat to create a secure, low-profile base—perfect for quick wig or piece changes.
3. Quick-Change Strategy
Look one: a sleek bob wig was placed over the braid base.
Look two: the wig was removed and replaced with a custom sculpted piece, saving time and keeping the foundation intact.
4. Sculpt the Avant-Garde Piece
Using synthetic hair, create four large 3-strand braids.
Insert aluminum wire from the Artist on the Go Bag into each braid to shape and structure the form.
Sew the braids together and pin into the center braid base for secure wear.
5. Finish + Accessorize
• Smooth any visible edges with BIG POPPA DEFINING GEL
• Add DOUX DROPS Bonding Polish for shine and control
• Finish with editorial accessories from the Artist on the Go Bag for a bold, high-fashion touch
