A lover of all things hairdressing, industry star Darrel Starkey held his first digital wig workshop, bringing together stylists from all over the world and showcasing his skills and step by steps in wig making.
An all-rounder within the industry, Darrel has expressed and unveiled a natural talent for wigs and wig making, and has received several requests for educational sessions over the last few months, from stylists not only throughout the UK but across the world. With enquiries from America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, Darrel took his course digital in order to meet the demand of his followers.
Held on zoom, Darrel welcomed a group of 75 stylists who were keen to begin their WIG journey, and learn the foundations of the skill and begin to build their confidence in this area of hairdressing. The stylists who took part took part from the UK, America, Australia and China.
The live workshop saw Darrel take his students through the entire process of creating a bespoke long hair wig look. The session consisted of learning how to map out the wig design for the shape and desired look, colour placement and attachment as well as the finish, along with detailed information of hair density, attachment methods and how to style. Darrel was on hand to answer any questions and the session as very collaborative and creative. With wigs and hair replacement systems becoming very much a requirement in today’s industry, this course will help stylists and salons delivery additional and highly sought after services.
Darrel comments, “The digital WIG educational session was fantastic – everyone had a great time and we brought stylists in from all over the world – it was incredible. Wigs can often be deemed ‘complicated’ and my goal is to break down those boundaries and show how easy they are to work with, the best way to work with them and how to navigate to achieve the best results. We are seeing many people experiment with wigs through social media and to be able to create and provide this as a service is a win win for all.
WIG Education is now available for groups, salons and individuals with dates accommodated both in salon or digitally.
