OUT NOW: SalonEVO UK & Ireland Issue 23 – Sept/Oct 2024

Hello Autumn!

The latest issue of SalonEVO UK is OUT NOW. Despite the days cooling as we head into the autumn months – SalonEVO is keeping it hot! In this edition we are ushering in a new era of the UK hair industry, and we couldn’t be more excited. On our pages, we have a collection of visually stunning hair artistry, interiors and content from those across the hair and beauty world – just for you. In this issue, we cover everything from interiors and business to colour – with a special focus on texture. Find all of this, and more, in SalonEVO UK Issue #23!

COVER: CRAZY COLOR

Right now, vibrant vivids are taking centre stage – with Crazy Color leading the way. In this edition, our cover star rocks the shades of the moment: rich copper, contrasting against a buttery shade of orange blossom. Keeping in with the Crazy Color crew, we caught up with the owner of Slunks Cardiff and Crazy Color Pro, Chelsea Thompson, to learn how her creativity is always in full colour.

FELLOWSHIP

Kicking off a new era of the UK hair scene, we present the President of the Fellowship… Ashleigh Hodges. In true Ashleigh style, we sat down over a coffee to get into her story; her plans for the Fellowship; and well, what makes her tick! We also dive into the Fellowship’s Clubstar Art Team, and get behind the creativity.

EVENTS

This events season has been unforgettable. In this edition, we’ve highlighted all those important industry events, so, if you never got the chance to slip away from the salon and attend – you can relive it, wherever you are (hopefully, with a glass of prosecco or a cup of tea in hand)! With Haircon, the Fellowship’s Presidents Night and the Great Lengths GLammies, this season is one for the books. We also discuss everything you need to know about the SHABA’s – Scotland’s iconic hair and beauty awards ceremony.

COLOUR

In colour, we have all the important info from the top colour brands in the industry. We first have Crazy Color leading us, like Dorothy, into a technicolour world. Then icing it up, we talk magnetic blondes with Revlon Professional. Segueing us back into a rainbow world, we caught up with the Manic Panic crew to find out just how to keep your colour fresh. We also have trend expert Tom Smith talking autumn trends! All this and even more in this editions colour segment…

INTERIOR

In 2024, interiors have become more valuable than ever. Clients are seeking an escape from the daily grind – and whether that escape is an oasis of serenity, a party palace, or something else entirely, is completely up to you! Your salon tells a part of your own unique story. And in this issue, we delve into the story of Ashleigh Hodges – the owner of the minimalist, green salon Mash Creative Studios. Also in our interiors section, we chat to the team at Limoz Logli in London, and get all the insider info about the latest trend hitting salon spaces – coworking.

TEXTURE

If you want to find the ultimate diversity, look at our hair! From fine, to thick. From light, to dark. From straight, to curly, to coily. As hair professionals, it’s important that every client’s hair can be treated with the same confidence and care. And in this edition, we’re taking the spotlight to all things textured hair. Launching us into texture, we took a deep dive into OLAPLEX’s new revolutionary Bond Shaper Treatment. We also talk to Lauraine Bailey – the multi-disciplinary hair artist, who is making waves in the session world. Her niche? Braids. In this section, we also have words from our esteemed columnist Jacqui McIntosh; a look at hair equity, through the eyes of BB Collective founder, Scott Cooper; and even more.

BUSINESS

Whilst our industry is inherently creative, having a booming business is key to being able to express this creativity. As always, SalonEVO has got the top tips from industry experts, to help you on your journey! Leading us into our business section, we have OLAPLEX CEO Amanda Baldwin. The mogul reveals what her secret is to helping OLAPLEX remain as one of the leading industry brands, and what the future looks like ahead. We also have Samantha Cusick, who discusses both importance of your service menu and how to maximise it; and also how to master recruitment. With features on finances and growth – and even a look behind the brand of iconic London salons, HOB Salons – your business will be booming in no time.

TECH

Could AI kill the art of conversation? This is the big question Barry Stephens asks in his latest column. In tech, this month – not only do we delve into the wonders technology does for us, through the digital-wonder app HairTracker, but we are also looking to the future of our industry, armed with information from the NHBF.
